چکیده

A fully coupled tide-surge-wave model was developed to study the influence of different computational domains on typhoon wave characteristics in waters surrounding Taiwan. Three typhoons were selected as cases: Meranti, Malakas, and Megi, which successively impacted Taiwan September 2016. Superposition CFSV2 winds blended with ERA5 onto yielded optimum simulations waves. Storm responses along eastern shelf resulting from three examined four domains. The first domain (D01) primarily situated region where giant waves generated. second (D02) covered an area extending 114° E 130° 19° N 29° N. third (D03) southwardly included entire Bashi Channel, longitudes 111° 135° latitudes 18° 30° fourth (D04) largest among domains; it extended 105° 140° 15° 31° simulated sea state indicated that smaller inadequate for typhoon-driven storm computation purposes, although areas D01 D02 reached approximately 0.75 1.38 million km2, respectively, encompassing all Island adjacent waters. Our results suggest utilizing at least D03 or a larger (e.g., D04) is essential account remote wind effect Taiwanese

KUMAR, B.P. and STONE G.W., 2007. Numerical simulation of typhoon wind forcing in the Korean seas using a spectral wave model. Journal of Coastal Research, 23(2), 362–373. West Palm Beach (Florida), ISSN 0749-0208. This study investigates the application of the wave model (WAM) to simulate the generation and propagation of typhoon waves in Korean seas. The model solves the energy balance equati...

Ocean Wave Simulation Based on Wind Field

Ocean wave simulation has a wide range of applications in movies, video games and training systems. Wind force is the main energy resource for generating ocean waves, which are the result of the interaction between wind and the ocean surface. While numerous methods to handle simulating oceans and other fluid phenomena have undergone rapid development during the past years in the field of comput...

High Resolution Remote Sensing of Ocean Wind and Wave Fields

The technical approach in this project involves three types of models: (1) the two-scale electromagnetic scattering model, which relates the radar backscatter to the surface wave spectrum, (2) the wave action model, which describes the relationship between the surface wave spectrum and the near-surface wind field, and (3) atmospheric dynamical models that describe or constrain the spatial varia...

Dynamics of passive tracers in the atmosphere: laboratory experiments and numerical tests with reanalysis wind fields.

Laboratory and numerical experiments are reported on dye advection processes in geostrophic turbulence. The experimental setup is the classical rotating annulus with differential heating which mimics the most essential features of midlatitude atmospheric flow. The main control parameter is the temperature contrast. Fluorescent dye is used as passive tracer, and dispersion is evaluated by digita...
